Energiewende: Deutschlands Ausstieg aus der Atomenergie
In German only!
Sprechen Sie Deutsch? All who wish to hear and speak German are invited to bring their lunch to our monthly presentation and discussion. A topic of interest from German culture, history, or contemporary affairs will be presented, in German, by a selected speaker. Discussion on the topic will complete the Mittagstisch.
Can Germany do it? That has been a hotly debated question ever since Germany decided to shut down all nuclear power plants by 2022 and to develop renewable source energy to fill the power gap. Did the German government just overreact to the Fukushima accident, or is the energy turnaround a realistic plan, fuelled by the ambition to be a global leader in renewable energy technology?
Arne Jungjohann of the Heinrich Böll Foundation (Green Party) will address this topic and the potential ramifications of the German government’s decision.
Led by Irmgard Wagner (professor emerita of German, George Mason University).
Tickets $5/No charge for Friends of the Goethe-Institut. Beverages and sweets are provided.
RSVP to irmgardwagner7@gmail.com
Sponsored by Friends of the Goethe-Institut.
