Eurovision Song Contest: Düsseldorf 2011

An international song contest broadcast live every year since 1956, the Eurovision Song Contest brings together 43 countries for a competition transmitted simultaneously around the globe. Through one of their European Broadcasting Union television stations, countries select a singer and song to compete, and cast their vote for the most popular song from another country. After presenting some 1,100 songs, the contest has become a modern classic, strongly embedded in Europe's collective mind.

In 2010, German contestant Lena Meyer-Landrut won the final round. Therefore, Düsseldorf, Germany is hosting this year’s contest. Join us here at the Goethe-Institut for a live screening of the finale.

The event will be co-moderated by:
Kate Michael, K Street Kate (new media personality), and Miss District of Columbia 2006
Christoph Röckerath, correspondent, ZDF German television
