Genderful Experiences

Gender Studies Conference at the University of Birmingham

The postgraduate students Vasuki Shanmuganathan and Claire Harnett-Mann from Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Birmingham are holding , a conference (in the Learning Centre UG05) for postgraduate students of humanities and social sciences on issues relating to the study of gender.

"Genderful Experiences" offers an opportunity for postgraduates to present their theoretically and/or empirically focused research on issues relating to gender. We want to provide a collegial environment to share research and ideas but also debate gender issues arising out of this research. Furthermore, our aim is to establish a network of contacts starting with the participants and attendees of this conference and expanding into future conferences. At the conclusion of the conference, there will be a roundtable discussion on the practical applications of gender in teaching, researching and learning; the future of gender studies in academia; and the direction of feminism in general.

Our guest speakers:
Louise Brown, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, University of Birmingham
Charlotte E.
