Greens/EFA conference: 50 years of Women's Rights in the EU: How far have we come?
At this event we will look back on 50 years of EU achievements in the field of Women's Rights. And we will look forward to what still needs to be done, to really achieve equal opportunities for women everywhere in Europe and across the relevant fields. We will discus how to solve problems arising with the conciliation of work and family life; violence against women; the inequalities that still exist in political, social and economic fields and suppression of women within cultural minorities.
In the afternoon, special attention will be given to the way choices of women about the combination of work and care are influenced by ideas in society, on what makes a ´good mother´. We will discuss differences in motherhood ideologies throughout Europe and we will talk about the way politicians should address problems arising from such ideologies.
Representatives from the Social Partners and the European Commission, and other speakers with high importance in current debates on the issue, will share their views with us. You can find the full program attached.
With:
Hiltrud Breyer (MEP, Greens/EFA coordinator in the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality)
Raül Romeva (MEP Greens/EFA group, Vice Chairman in the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality)
Kathalijne Buitenweg (MEP, Greens/EFA coordinator in the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice & Home Affairs)
