Islam in Europe
Good Practices for Building an Inclusive Society
The project 'Islam in Europe' is an
initiative of GroenLinks in the European
Parliament. With this project GroenLinks
wants to give a new impulse to the
discussion about 'multiculturalism'. Islam
and Muslims seem to be subject of a heated
de debate all across Europe. Often in a
negative and blunt way.

As GroenLinks sees it, Islam is a permanent
factor in the European society. GroenLinks
wants to seek for good practices in
cooperation with Muslims both within and
outside GroenLinks. The good practices are
about the four main topics of the project.
The project is pointed toward experts,
scholars and everybody who is interested in
the topics of the project.

The four main topics of the project are:
stereotyping, institutionalising, identity
forming & emancipation

After the first day of the conference the
Green group in the European Parliament
organises a debate between philosopher
Tariq Ramadan and Dany
Cohn-Bendit.
