Midwestern Renewable Energy Tour 2011

In cooperation with the National Farmers Union (NFU), The Climate Network will conduct a series of meetings this summer across the Midwest on the theme of renewable energy solutions. The Renewable Energy Tour will make stops in Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin between June 27 to July 1.

The tour will provide information to farmers and policymakers on the benefits of renewable energy, its role in spurring rural economic development, the opportunity for farmers to generate an extra revenue stream while continuting to be sustainable stewards of the land. The tour will allow for firsthand dialogue between American farmers and featured speakers such as Dirk Ketelsen, a German farmer and self-made businessman, and Neil Veilleux, Midwest Renewable Energy Fellow 2011. Findings will be summarized in a policy report that will be released in Washington, D.C., at the end of July. A final schedule of public events will be announced in the week before the Midwest tour.
