The Ongoing Cultural Revolution in Iran: Can the Universities be Saved?
The university as a modern institution has played an important role in the political transformation of Iran. In the three decades following the Islamic Revolution, and especially after 2005, three major phases of university Islamization have been completed. Please join us in a discussion with Dr. Saeid Golkar, who has conducted a first-hand investigation of this transformation in Iran’s universities. Dr. Golkar, an Iranian political scholar who served as a lecturer in the department of social sciences at Azad University in Tehran from 2004 to 2009, will explain the Iranian regime’s motivations and the long-term effects these changes will have on future generations of Iranians.
