Religious and Cultural Diversity in India. A Role Model for Tolerance and Integration?

panel debate at the Frankfurt Book Fair

With its rich cultural and religious diversity, and in spite of clashes between Hindus and Muslims, India has seen a period of relative stability. Both speakers have been awarded the 2004 Right Livelihood Award for promoting dialogue between the religions. The debate will focus on how India might be able to cope with the rise of Hindu nationalism and radical, political Islam.

with:
Ashgar Ali Engineer, Centre for Study of Society and Secularism, Bombay
Swami Agnivesh, Movement for Spiritual Regeneration, Delhi
Klaus Voll, expert on India
