On the occasion of the Europe Day on 4th – 6th of May 2007 in Berlin
Programme
English version | German version
This conference is organised by The Feminist Institute of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the German Women's Security Council in Berlin, in cooperation with numerous partners. It is supported by the Federal Ministry of Family, Seniors, Women, Youth and filia, a foundation for women.
Paramount in this event is the complete implementation of UN Resolution 1325, which demands the adequate participation of women and the consideration of the gender aspects at all levels and in all decisios concerning peace and security policies.
In a first focal point of the conference, the differing means of intervention, both civil and military, will be displayed and analysed- focusing on the following aspects: How have the different interventions, especially of military nature, impacted on women and men? What expectations do regions of conflict have on the EU?
In the context of a public debate it will be questioned whether the EU is still the `Peace Power` which it claims to be. Further, it will be asked what needs to change for it to be perceived as such in regions of conflict and intervention by peace activist and experts. The second focal point focuses on the outstanding implementation of Resolution 1325 in EU peace and security policy as a whole and in the European states. It will be acquired how a European- wide action plan for EU’s peace and security policy should look like.
The main aim of the conference is a concretion of further steps for the implementation of the UN Resolution 1325 in all EU- countries of European Security policy. In this context, Roadmap to 1325 is prelude to a relay race for a successful implementation of 1325 in all of Europe.
