Seminar: Female Poverty and Cultural Diversity, Rome

AIC Training Seminar in Rome (Italy)

<b>Objectives of the project</b>:<br> To explore the possible links between cultural attitudes and female poverty and to consider women’s fundamental rights regardless of culture.<br> <br> The following issues will be addressed:<br> - Cultural influences – helping or hindering women’s development?<br> - Culture based origins of female poverty – how do we tackle the problem?<br> <br> <b>Target group</b>:<br> Women suffering from poverty in developing countries.<br> <br> <b>Who are we trying to help?</b><br> - The 350 volunteers representing 52 AIC national associations participating in the seminar.These participants are committed to passing on the benefits of their project work and the training they received in their national and local associations, where they will reach 250.000 members of AIC – volunteers working in the social field in their own communities, 95 % of them women. Many of them poor themselves they work in projects, networks, and community development. More than half of the participants come from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Before the international training session, 2 days will be devoted to the organisation of a seminar for the participants from Africa.<br> <br> - Women, suffering from poverty, in 52 countries where our volunteers work<br> <br>
