World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2012
World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2012
10/16/2012
12:00pm – 3:30pm
In cooperation with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).
Proponents of nuclear power have again and again declared that the time had come for a nuclear renaissance. Over the last years, countries around the world have announced the construction of new reactors. But despite these announcements, the future market for nuclear power in several regions of the globe appears to shrinking, while renewable energy deployment continues at pace and in an ever increasing number of countries.
How likely is a global nuclear renaissance? What is the financial outlook of the nuclear industry after the nuclear disaster in Fukushima? How does the rapid growth of renewable energy technologies affect the nuclear industry? And what are the consequences for the United States where no new nuclear power plant has been connected to the grid over the last 15 years?
Mycle Schneider, a world leading nuclear industry energy expert, will address these questions in an invitation-only event. Twenty years after its first edition, the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2012 portrays an industry suffering from the cumulative impacts of the world economic crisis, the Fukushima disaster, strong competitors and its own planning and management difficulties.
This is an invitation-only event. For registration and questions please contact Alexander Franke at us-trainee1@us.boell.org.
